What to serve with steaks?

I've finally settled on steaks for Xmas eve. What will I serve with them?

Chunky chips and aspargus - lush

someone's gotta state the obvious.

roast tomatoes, asparagus and skinny chips with mayo. YUM

Got to throw a few grilled mushrooms on there too. And mustard

We had steak tonight. To go with it, I roasted tenderstem broccoli, with shallots, in olive oil. After they had been in the oven for about 10 minutes, I added some asparagus. I also did some boiled potatoes, in their skins, served with butter, and made a mushroom sauce. (Sauted shallots, garlic, mushrooms, salt/pepper, herbes de provence, and sour cream).

We're have fillet steak, garlic and chilli king prawns, chunky chips, green salad and hot crusty bread mmmmmm. The kids want spag bol though and for once, I don't mind cooking different meals...

Dauphinoise potatoes!

new potatoes, and a selection from: mushrooms in sour cream, grilled or roasted tomatoes, something green (broccoli/green beans/peas), red onions

chips, asparagus, mushrooms and onions fried together and a peppercorn sauce

Crispy potato slices, onion rings, mushrooms, tomatoes, peppercorn sauce and cooked medium rare.

I might do steak on Xmas eve now

love the idea of throwing time nice mushrooms on there too. Actually the last time i did steak we had mustard mash put in the oven so the top went crispy, mushrooms, roasted veg and whole chanterray (sp?) carrots

i am going to have to cook teacakes now

I want it all so think it'll be onion rings, roast vine tomatoes, chunky chips and maybe mushrooms too and another veg.

Oh and prawn skewers for me and dm for surf and turf

Potatoes lyonnaise. Or my lazy version of them: slice a few pots and parboil them. Meanwhile, fry some sliced onions in lots of butter to caramelise them, then add the potatoes so they can soak up the butter and finish cooking. I promise you, they're delicious.
