Soaking fruit for Christmas cake and pudding..

Hi

Just about to start preparing dried fruit (a bit late this year!), I wanted to soak the fruit but this year don't really want to use rum or brandy as pregnant and it will only worry me! (not likely to cause fas, I know but will panic)

Any suggestions as to what to do instead?

orange juice

the alcohol will all evaporate when you cook the cake and even if it didn't, imagine what a tiny dose you would get with each slice? you are hardly going to eat half the cake in one go
if you like the taste, enjoy it

Tea is good too, I use earl grey. Mines been soaking for about a fortnight now, I'm baking today
