Love, love, love Wagamama. Hopefully will take ds and dd there either tonight or tomorrow pre cinema. Really hope they like the food. They're used to noodles at home (one recipe) so I'm pretty sure they'll enjoy it.
Wagamama is always my treat when in London. Am going to have Chicken Tama Rice unless you have any recommendations??

I'm not that scary Fimbo! You did tell me when I first joined mumsnet as mememum. I'm not some stalker loon I promise!

cupcakes · 11/04/2006 09:06

We didn't get to wagamama yesterday - the car broke down outside the station (we were attempting to get to the cinema first) and the RAC had to rescue us and carry our car home!! A friend is lending us her car today so we might try again this afternoon (it's supposed to be ds's holiday treat).

I'm scared of meetups too.

There is one opening in exeter, but I don't know if it is open yet, but can't wait to try it!

granarybeck · 11/04/2006 10:14

yum! I love wagamama. Took my two to the on in manchester yesterday to meet dh for lunch. They love it nd the staff are lovely with children.

cupcakes · 12/04/2006 10:19

Went last night after finally making it to the cinema. The staff were fabulous with the children, giving them colouring in books as soon as we got in and adapting one of the meals to suit one fussy eater. They both had chicken noodles.
It was really, really nice. Will definitely be taking them back there again.

Mmmm, we pressed our noses up against the window but as we couldn't see a menu we decided to leave it.
Is it pricey??

Fimbo - are you sure that your reason for not doing meet ups isn't purely because you have met me?? Wink

ProfYaffle has met me too!

cupcakes · 12/04/2006 10:33

our meals were about £7 each and the children's were £4.

mmm, can't wait to come home to Norfolk in the summer now.... I'm drooling all over the place. Never managed to get to a Wagamama's before but this might be our chance :) Thanks for the info!

iota · 12/04/2006 16:10

see what you've done - I had to go to Wagamamas for lunch today after all this talk

bundle · 12/04/2006 16:12

have wagamama cookbook, am on noodle frenzy atm

Fimbo · 13/04/2006 09:44

Cupcakes I was at Chapelfield on Wednesday - I didn't peek through the windows though - LOL I might have seen you if I had!! Grin.

Spag is scary that's the real reason for no meet-ups!

Tootsweet - I can relax again - sorry didn't realise you had changed your name!

nowanearlyNicemum · 13/04/2006 10:32

bundle - is the wagamama cookbook full of completely 'un-findable' ingredients or is it fairly user-friendly?

bundle · 13/04/2006 19:04

I have quite a few of the ingredients, but confess i've never seen some of them (the "skins" you make dumplings with - but would i make them anyway? i did some tempura the other week, but that's only batter...i copied their dipping sauce which was lovely, they're mostly just a variation on chilli, soy, nam pla, garlic, ginger, oyster sauce etc). luckily i know a whole row of shops that should have them, conveniently situated on the way to the lovely hoxtonchick's house Grin

Fimbo- I've just realised you asked me a question and I completely missed it! Sorry...

I live in Thorpe St Andrew, just to the East of Norwich.

I'm going to Wagamammas this week, but I have to take a few deep breaths as it is so near to Chapelfield- the place brings me out in a rash. I also tried Tootsies a while back and was really disappointed. I had a lamb burger and it was 95% rosemary and 5% lamb. I must be more experimental, I tend to stick with Pizza Express and Pinnocchios on St Benedicts St.

Any of you ever been to Cafe Morello- Orford Place, off Red Lion St (near Looses kitchen place and John Oliver's hairdressers). It's lovely for lunch, family run and everything's home-made. We love it!

Nice to know there's a strong Norfolk contingent to MN!

coreyp · 16/04/2006 00:08

We are thinking of moving to Thorpe St. Andrew (or East Norwich, anyway). Do you like it, Kleggie? What's good or bad about it?

kleggie · 16/04/2006 00:32

We love it Coreyp. We live right on the river (just up from River Green- where the cafe and newsagents is). It's near enough to some nice country and beautiful walks that you don't feel too much like you live on the outskirts of a city, but near enough to get into town quite easily. DH and I don't drive, so the buses are good too (14 every 15mins, 17 every half an hour into the city). The schools are, I believe, very good and there are some nice parks. Morrisons and Sainsburys are pretty much equidistant from Thorpe St Andrew and I use both depending on budget and whether I can tolerate Morrisons! There are some lovely pubs and restaurants too (DH manages one of them!). I love the Rushcutters, very pretty, on the river with lots of beams, open fires and very good food.

The biggest downside is the football traffic from Carrow Road that runs down Yarmouth Road. It can be at a standstill for quite a while at times. House prices are ridiculous in parts, but I think Dussindale is quite good if prices are an issue at all and it is very family orientated.

If there's anything else you want to ask, please do. Feel free to CAT me if you can, or if not just reply on thread and I'll give you my email address.

Kleg.

Wagamama is my fave restaurant. DP and I go as much as we can. I get the yaki udon, she gets the yasai yaki soba. It would be reasonably cheap but we get three side dishes (2 dumplings and the edamame). Mmmmmmmmmmmm, got me thinking about next week's night out now! I'm in Scotland.

lilstarry1 · 18/04/2006 13:03

I am completely crashing this thread... I was so excited when I read about something happening locally.

I didn't realise there was such a large Norfolk community! I'm currently living in the centre of Norwich, haven't ventured into Wagamama yet but can highly recommend Pedro's (it's in the middle of Chapelfield garden and serves fantastic Mexican food).

How would I find out about the Norfolk meet up? I'd love to meet people!
