For either 3 or 5 adults and one toddler. I usually do something slow roast as dad is fussy, but I'm getting bored with that. I'm doing a chocolate pudding I think, so probably skip starter.

I usually bake a big ham and serve it hot with something relatively simple like spiced red cabbage. Advantage of a ham is that it can be served up cold on subsequent days and makes a lovely pie with leftover turkey.

I usually do a venison casserole. Perhaps with red cabbage and either mash or jacket potatoes.

I'm doing venison, in a red wine and juniper sauce, with cavlo Nero mash, but if I only had three to feed then I'd go for duck in raspberry sauce with crushed new pots.
I do spiced red cabbage, and sprouts with chestnuts and pancetta, as I don't serve these with my Christmas dinner.
we have chocolate fondats with blackberry sorbet as desert. I cannot wait!

Lamb casserole and apple crumble/custard.

Simple and filling. Lamb goes in the slow cooker while we're busy/out.

Christmas casserole, with chestnuts and red wine. Will be adjusting it slightly this year so it can go in the slow cooker while we're busy, and I'm having a last minute panic, to be soothed by the rest of the aforementioned wine. Grin Wine

We always have fish pie. I like the Rick Stein one. You can make it in advance and leave in fridge.

I'm with Cogito, I do the ham. Then serve it with mac cheese, crusty bread, some tomatoes, salad bits etc.

QueefLatina · 28/11/2012 14:31

Ham with macaroni cheese?

I am doing that for sure!

thestringcheesemassacre · 28/11/2012 14:33

I know. I rarely eat mac cheese so it's an extra special treat. And something cheesy with ham is DELICIOUS.

Bearandcub · 28/11/2012 14:35

I always do party food, tempura prawns, mini pizzas, snacky stuff and open a bottle or 2. I have Christmas music playing and invariably it is when I wrap up all the pressies. So I blame my dreadful wrapping skills on booze.

In the past, we've had pan fried salmon with veg. However, we do tend to go out on Christmas Eve to a restaurant.

This year, I'll be doing Toad in the Hole on Sun Dec 23rd!
