Can I use pre=cooked prawns in a stir fry?

I've only used raw ones before but have found some cooked ones in my freezer.

If I defrost them can I then bung them in the wok with all the other stir fry stuff or will they be horrible and overcooked? I'm planning on just putting them in towards the end so they heat through rather than been fried for ages.

Yes of course.

Thanks. I've been cooking vegetarian food only for too long and am a bit clueless.

If the prawns are already cooked and defrosted add them only a minute before the end . After the vegetables are cooked and just long enough to warm through. Any longer and they'll shrivel up into little commas.

Yes, right at the last minute - you're aiming to heat them through. Any more than a minute and they'll go all tough.

Wow whats wrong with these wannabe killers telling you its fine? My friend did this exact same thing and unfortunately all I can say to them now is R.I.P.!

RojaGato · 11/01/2015 01:01

Yup, just add right at end or they will dry out.

Boring, PAmble.

Oh, and welcome to Mumsnet.
