put it in a glass vase in the middle of the table with some water and then dab the end of the stalk in a little bit of salt on the side of your plate until you've eaten it all

Creamed Celery (American)
4 cups celery, chopped into one inch pieces
2 cups veg. stock (or chicken I guess)
3 Tablespoons butter
1/2 tsp salt
2 Tablespoons chopped onion
3 Tablespoons Flour
3/4 cup half and half (half cream?)
1/3 cup pecans, chopped
Bread crumbs for topping

Wash and dice celery into one inch pieces. Place into a saucepan with two cups of the stock, cook the celery for about 10 minutes. Drain and save this liquid. Melt butter in a saute pan and saute the onion until transparent. Add the flour, mixing well. Blend in the cream and 3/4 cup of the stock you saved and add the salt. Bring this to boil and cook until thick. Combine this mixture with the celery and pecans. Turn this into a buttered 2 quart casserole and top with breadcrumbs as you like. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.

slather it in philidelphia light, bringing the cost up and calories up.

failing that, compost heap or pet rabbit.

picnikel · 05/04/2006 21:52

Ugh, compost!

If you eat it it'll make you fart and you'll get stringy bits stuck in your teeth Grin.
