What went wrong?

I tried out a recipe on Sunday, it was so simple but I still managed to get it totally wrong. It was cauliflower and brocolli cheese bake. The sauce was lumpy and I had to sift them all out which made the sauce very thin. Has really put me off trying something else and I have lots of recipes that I sent off for.

I just wish I could cook.

crazydazy it is all about trial and error sweetie
you have to keep on trying to find out why it goes wrong
maybe on too high heat etc

and let your dh and kids be the guinea pigsGrin

He said he enjoyed it but am sure he was just trying to make me feel the better.

What made it worse was the fact that my Aunt Bessies pop in the oven puddings that you cook yourself didn't rise very well either, was just a flop in all sense of the word.

hi i would not worry i am a good cook and still manage to get lumps in my sauces every now and again/ make sure you melt butter thenadd flour until it forms a thin paste them add a bit of milk at a time stiring all the time also, when making cauliflour and broccilli bake you must drain the veg really well and allow to air dry a little as water from it goes in sauce and makes it watery

Delia suggests you bung everything in and use an egg-whisk, then heat gently. Works every time.

Thanks for those tips girls, yes I think I must have added the veg too soon to make it so watery. Will make sure I leave it for awhile.

yomella - I have an electric whisk, think I will try it that way then it does seem a lot easier.

Thanks again Smile
