I'm nervous. Have just made xmas cake (fruit obviously) and debating what to cover it in...I've always done marzipan and royal icing on fruit cake but quite fancy chocolate fondant covered in silver snowflakes. Does choc fondant work with fruit cake? Advice needed...help!

I think that may be a bit of a flavour clash tbh. Isn't it a bit early to be decorating anyway?

Not decorating yet, cake not alcoholic enough! just considering options. I think i agree with the taste thing, curious if i was wrong or not. Dark blue royal it is then.

mrsseed, why dont you cover your cake in dark royal sugarpaste instead and cover it with silver snowflakes? that will look effective.

You can buy chocolate flavoured sugarpaste. Nigella does a chocolate fruitcake recipe and it tastes amazing so fruit cake and chocolate does go!
