What do you have with pasta and pesto to turn it into a 'proper' meal please? Other than having a salad on the side, I always struggle to know what to have with it. This time of year never makes me fancy salad. Don't say roasted courgettes/peppers/mushrooms etc because the dds won't eat them, even though that is exactly what I would have with it if I had my way!

Try with you could sauté off some red onions, soy beans, wilted spinach and broccoli, then add them in. A splash of cream in the end makes it richer.

a glass of wine.

more seriously some antipasti stirred in or on the side is delish.

Buy any of Anna Del Conte's books on Italian food. She is authentic, realistic and completely reliable. You can get them secondhand on Amazon.

Can't get my head round potatoes and pasta at all. Our school canteen insists on serving wedges and garlic bread with pasta bake: weird.

Chop quorn sausages into it, put peas in the pasta whilst cooking, serve with cheese (works well with green pesto).

Fry cherry toms cut in half, a chopped red pepper, red onion, mix with pasta, red pesto, cut up quorn sausages and cheese to serve.

I will put cut up quorn sausages in just about everything I cook... Grin

Should say I oven bake them first, I don't chop them up raw.

EMS23 xpost!

And btw, Italian women don't stay slim, obesity is rising visibly here. It is possibly not the fault of traditional recipes like pasta al pesto, though!
