Sounds v familiar - ds is 13 months and going through v odd phase with food. Give him a small piece of banana - it comes straight back out. Give him half a banana and he polishes it off! Am thinking it may be some kind of independence/teething thing...

My DD (now 22 months) would never eat lumpy food off a spoon, she had puree for ages, she would eat finger food though! if she could hold it herself it was ok.
she now eats our food just cut up, i think alot of babies find it hard to eat the puree with lumps in, just keep giving it a try and it will happen eventually!
Good luck.
