Brilliant indeed.
So, wise Puddlehumpers...... (sorry, it's a long one)
I've got dilemmas. Oxfam was great. They showed me the basics & I'm going back on Wednesday to learn more. I explained that I wanted to get experience in everything possible & they more or less said "Name it." So I've said I'll do two mornings a week for now.
I've got my job centre interview Friday, & the rules say that I can't do more than 16 hours of study per week. So that would rule out the accountancy course I was looking at because while I have some redundancy pay, it's not going to last that long if I pay for the course & can't get JSA. Plus I couldn't do it full time and work if I found a job.
I could do the course at weekends, which MIGHT get round it, but then DW and I would never see each other, especially if I manage to get a job during the week, and the course would take twice as long.
Part of it, I think, is that I always thought I had a job for life (yes, I know) and never envisaged this happening. Now it has, it's almost exciting in a way, but it means I need to make realistic plans (DW is a huge help there) and not assume I can do everything.
I need to keep applying for jobs whatever, obviously, and if I get one everything changes again. But at the moment I'm thinking about doing a course in Sage accounting software and one in bookkeeping. They'd take 10 weekends, be cheaper & then I'd be jobhunting now with those & the Oxfam experience under my belt. I'd also not be committing myself to a long, expensive course (although if I decided I was still serious I could still do it in September).
Sorry, I'm partly just thinking aloud.... any thoughts appreciated but if you skip this I won't mind!
What's up?
