Are they any good? Or do you have a superior brownie recipe for me to try?

I'm afraid that's the one thing I buy in a box. From the good people at Betty Crocker.

Irrationally successfully yummy and no one has ever guessed!

They are really good - but if they don't need to be wheatfree then I can second betty crocker which are amazing.

A friend has always made the best brownies, i was Shock when I tried betty crocker's and discovered that she'd been cheating all these years.

I'm not a big fan of Nigella, I find her recipes a bit hit and miss and often over sweet.

Far superior IMHO are Smiiten Kitchen's and Dan the Man's

Brownies are so easy to make why would you buy a box mix?

We went to Soutg Carolina and had all these amazing brownies at people's houses. Eventually someone's granny admitted they were from a Betty Crocker box which is how we discovered them!

If you need flourless ones, they are OK. If you can take gluten, I've got a fab recipe I could type in for you - icing sugar in place of other sugar makes them really smooth.

Needs to be gluten free I'm afraid. I wonder if I can replace the flour with almond/coconut flour?

Marking place - DCs and I can eat gluten but DH is coeliac so would be great to try something without flour :)

Thats what nigella has pretty much done - she uses ground almonds. They are a bit oily when I make them, but as gluten free go, they are pretty good.

There's no oil in the nigella ones is there? Is it the butter that makes them oily?

No, no oil, but mine have always come out oily. I blamed the ground almonds, as that is the ingredient I'm not used to cooking with, but butter is more likely the culprit!

I love the nigella ones, cut them up small as they're really rich. Last ages too, I serve them warmed slightly in the microwave with ice cream. Nom nom

I made these at the wkend for dd and dh who are both wheat free- they were a lot more palatable than the usual freefrom stuff. My parents tried them as have asked me to make them again for Christmas! We had them with ice cream and the chocolate sauce she recommends. The only thing I did was not add all the walnuts as dd is only 2.5.

Hale and Hearty gluten free mix, holland & barrett and some sainsbury. Knock spits off any and all brownie recipes I've tried and I normally hate box mixes. Can mix it dairy free too for vegans

Just taking most brownie recipes and using gluten free flour often works. Gluten free flour is cheapest in Waitrose!
