Help - dried mixed beans - how do I make soup with them???

I found some dried mixed beans at the back of my cupboard and want to make a nice low fat soup with them.
I soaked them overnight, but do I now cook them for an hour before cooking them in a soup?

Or do I cook the soup altogether for over an hour?

Do you know any recipes? Do I put chopped toms in?
Arghhh! I wish I had done domestic science at school!

I think I am overworrying about this.
Still not sure about the toms.
I will just have a bash and let you know if it tasted okay
