Inncocent smoothies - ok for 3 year old?

My ds love inncoent spoothies and has one small carton a day.

My mil told me that they could rot hi teeth - something to do with natural sugar, the straw and his teeth?!

I am sure that this is a ploy as she is a fan of fruit shoots and I am not.

Please can you confirm that these smoothy cartons are ok?

thanks

Fruit Shoots are evil
Innocent Smoothies are fab (though not organic, I wrote to them and they say they regularly test for pesticide residues and don't find any)
You are right
She is wrong
Keep giving them

My DD (nearly 4) has innocent smoothies and loves them. DD only has them occasionally and only about once a week on average.

I would think they were infinitely better than fruit shoots for your DD.

DD drink LOADS of these. She's 2.5. She only has them at meal/snack times though and usually in addition to water. I always thought that using a straw would lessen the impact on teeth... but maybe am wrong????

are they pastuerised? that would be my chief concern.

I'd have thought Fruit Shoots are worse. Don' t they have a pop up valve which would mean the sugar comes into greater contact with the front teeth than a straw ? Any juice contains natural sugars.

I don't think you need to worry about teeth with one small carton a day if you are brushing his teeth. My dss also have the Innocent ones, I think of it as a portion of fruit (without the fibre).

I think the worry over sugar in juice is if that is all they drink all day.

Pjs smoothies count as 2 of the five a day. Havent had innocent smothies but if they have bits in them i would imagine it would be 2 portion.
