Mine are always either hard or mushy! To foil or not to foil?

Hmm, I don't foil (but do with white potatoes). For an average size I'd probably do about 45mins to an hour but then I do like mine on the mushy/slightly caramelised skin side...
absolutely not help whatsoever

How can I tell if they are cooked? Is there a skewer test? Am useless!

I just usually stick a fork in - just like with a white potato. If it's met with any resistance it's not done enough (for me) I'm not being much help am I?! Grin

Hiya,
I make sweet potato chips in the oven and check using a fork after about 30 mins. I set the oven to 200 degrees and cut the chips at about 1.5cm thick.

I put mine in the microwave for around 8-10 mins then in the oven for 5-10 mins to crispen up. It does depend how big it is as to how long you cook.
