Has any one ever bought 1/2 a pig?

My butcher sells meat - as I'm always in there buyin stuff (weekly, some times 2 or 3 times a week)

He offered me to buy a 1/2 pig butchered how I want - for £120

£3.20 a kilo - apparently.

Is it worth it? I have a big freezer I could easily store it

Ooh I'd do it but then I buy half a lamb at a time ... ((Ponders how I could get another fridge in garage for a pig))

Love the first statement Grin

my butcher sells meat

I'd do it, but my dp would see it as a challenge to try eat the whole lot in one sitting week

I would so do this! It probably works out as quite good value, and you would be more sure of the provenance of your meat & can check how it has been reared.

We are working our way through half a lamb from a farmer friend & are thoroughly enjoying it. It also means we are eating cuts we might not normally eat (including heart, kidneys etc)

Ooh, and you could make your own sausages!

I've been wondering about this too. Also how long would it take to eat it all?

How very handy that your butcher sells meat! Grin

Sorry I have no advice on the half pig but I like the sound of it
