Quick question re roast lamb in red wine sauce - can I use rose instead?

I'm planning on putting roast lamb in the slow cooker this morning - it's supposed to be with stock and red wine, but I've realised we've got no red wine.

Would rose be a suitable alternative or should I just leave it out?

I wouldn't think rose had the depth of flavour for a red meat dish. I would leave it out and replace with stock.

Definitely don't put Rose in. its too sweet. leave it out, get to the shops later snd get some red. Either put it in as soon as you can or make a nice jus for serving.

Probably too late - but lamb cooked with rose is delicious, I use it a lot. MumOfTwoCats - Rosé is only sweet when you buy sweet rosé.

I did slosh some rose into it in the end, and it tasted yummy. Mind you, I had other things on my mind when I was eating it as contractions had just started prior to the arrival of DS2. :)

The proper recipe (which we didn't follow in the end) had redcurrant jelly added at the end, so would have been quite sweet anyway.
