I'm going to try it for the first time tonight.

What is best to eat it with? Should it be eaten hot or cold?

Hot, wraps with salad and yoghurty mint sauce.
Sliced red onion too.

hoummus, I tend to spread hoummous on a wrap and put falafel in it sprinkle a bit of hot sauce add some salad and eat as a sandwich type thing

Vix07 · 11/10/2012 14:26

hummus & salad, and - if you can get it celeriac remoulade - if not try with coleslaw, yummy. If you're making it yourself from a packet I prefer shaping it into a burger style patty rather than the little balls cos it keeps the inside nice & moist!

Catniss · 11/10/2012 14:37

I have both salad and houmous so it looks like I am sorted. Thanks all.

Hot sauce!

Plus hoummous, minty yoghurt, salad of cucumbers, tomatoes and lettuce diced with lemon juice squeezed on top.

Second making flat patties rather than balls.

Mmmmmmmm falafels!

AnnieLobeseder · 13/10/2012 11:30

It's supposed to go in pita bread with salad, tahina and hummous, if you're doing it proper Israeli style. And be eaten hot.

piratecat · 13/10/2012 11:36

i like them warmed, with cous cous. big salad, and some fruity mango chutney. chuck a load of sunflower seeds over the salad--lush.

piratecat · 13/10/2012 11:37

i am veggie, and have just dicovered tesco's own frozen falafel, brilliant staple, and cheap.

CunningPlan · 13/10/2012 11:39

Mmmm falafel.

Tahini is good too if you can get it. Shredded red cabbage is also nice if you're doing it in pitta breads or wraps.

valiumredhead · 15/10/2012 08:46

We eat it in pitta bread with salad and yoghurt and red onion mmmmmmm!!!

multipoodles · 15/10/2012 10:01

NorbertDentressangle · 15/10/2012 10:05

In pitta bread with salad, houmous and/or garlic mayo

catinwitchyboots · 15/10/2012 10:06

How do you make falafel?

Allalonenow · 15/10/2012 10:18

I have them hot with mayo or yoghurt dip as an apero, but I'll be trying them in pitta now.

Delicious!

valiumredhead · 15/10/2012 12:55

I chop up red onion, garlic, tons of parsley and coriander and a tin of chick peas - then whizz using a stick blender. Pat them into 'cakes' and dip them in flour then gently fry.

valiumredhead · 15/10/2012 12:55

Oh and add lemon juice!

catinwitchyboots · 15/10/2012 13:03

Cheers Val. I'm going to attempt them now!

valiumredhead · 15/10/2012 13:05

Oh and salt and pepper too - play around a bit until you get it how you like it.

catinwitchyboots · 15/10/2012 13:33

Can I use dried herbs or do they need to be fresh?

valiumredhead · 15/10/2012 13:53

I would say fresh - you need LOADS - great big handfuls Grin
