to ask what you keep in your freezer?

Watched a Gordon Ramsey programme where he said he kept sliced frozen bagels in his freezer, so he's always got a quick brunch.

This had never occurred to me so I wondered what other freezer tricks I am missing out on.

To kick things off these are normally to be found lurking in my freezer:

Frozen veg (fast food for the dc when I can't be bothered to cook)

Fishfingers (See above)

Pizza base - Made in batch. And frozen for a quick pizza when I can't be bothered to cook (I see a theme emerging ...)

Banana bread, flapjacks etc - made in batch for after school snack.

Ice - For alcohol.

Frozen onions - For when I can be bothered to cook but not cry.

What do you keep in yours?

Oh and OP, try keeping the onions in the fridge, they seem to make me cry much much less that if they're kept out.

My top tip?
Freeze semiskimmed milk in ice cubes so that you've got enough for a cuppa (the hot water helps defrost it) if you've run out and can't be arsed get to the shop

YABU to have "Frozen Onions" and "Frozen Veg" in your freezer and not "Frozen Fish Fingers" "Frozen Ice" "Frozen Banana Bread" etc. The Frozen is already evident from the fact it's in the freezer.

(now I've found a reason...)

Ice Cream, Chocolate (to go with the ice cream), Peas and left overs is all that's in ours.

frozon blood worm and brineshrimp for the fish. Oh and ice cubes and chillis.

frozen meals (toad in the hole, curry, lasagne, macaroni cheese for when i cant be bothered to cook them properly)
lots of oven chips/potatoes/hash browns
frozen veg
nuggets
fish fingers
frozen pizzas
ice cream
pretty much the whole of iceland but still struggle finding something for dinner for us all

Oh I have my random bag of leftover meatballs and hotdogs. I make a mean pasta bake when thats full up!

i froze bananas and they went black so i threw them away. should i have saved them?

I always had this great idea to try reducing down spare wine and storing it in ice-cube trays so that I could just pop one in a bolognese or casserole if we didn't have any wine handy. Only somehow we never seem to have any spare wine to try it with.

Spare wine is a myth. Fact.

I have more than one freezer
One has rabbits, chickens, pigeon breasts and half a pig at the moment
The other has all the other usual stuff, lots or prepared meals.

Meat meat and more meat
Chicken bits and pieces
Fish
Loads of bananas
Ice lollies
Veggie haggis
Bottle of water for icing injuries
Edame beans
Something in a tupperware dish that may or may not be lasagne, but I must have been comfident that I'd remember what it was when it went in there (I am not)
Something in a pour n store bag which may be vegetable stock, or soup, or white wine for risottos, or wee. I'm not sure.

Why owe anyone freeze cheese?

Because the suoermarkets do rediculously large packs on BOGOF and even I can't eat them all! Its fine for sauces.

Sweetcorn, peas, broad beans, cauli, broccoli, onions, baby brussel sprouts

Freezer in garage:

Lemon sole goujons
Duck x 2
Duck breast strips x 2
Bacon x 4 packs
Burgers x 2 packs
Pork fillet
Part baked baguettes x 2 packs
Bag of small pizza bases

I need to re-organise and move everything from the outside freezer into the kitchen freezer as my fil has a thing for the Sainsburys reduced counter and see's it as his mission to find as many outstandingly cheap but good quality purchases for me, and I've got to take my freezer box round there on Saturday

Why did I never think of freezing small portions of milk?

Yes I eat my chocolate frozen - it's just a cold and harder sort of chocolate really... not much else different. I like it with ice cream, just buy decent vanilla and use chocolate or cake for flavouring.

Jenai do you have snakes or something?

I used to keep day old chicks,pigeons,and rabbits, in a freezer in the garage years ago for the ferrets.

I knew moving to Food would kill this thread

Am I right in thinking you can only defrost milk by leaving it on the side? So if I suddenly realised I had used the last of the milk, I would have to wait for it to defrost?

Still useful though, esp at night for the morning.
