Got a load of dates, what shall I do?

Any good recipes? I don't like them much to snack on but imagine they're good in cakes? My mum has just given me a load, stone less, in a tub.

No idea why, they are just here, in my kitchen, following her visit.

Obviously sticky toffee pudding! Slightly more virtuous are sugar free flapjacks. Blend the dates with apple juice and use instead of golden syrup - they are very good.

sticky toffee pudding for sure. Or you could make cockroach crunch - basically mars bar crispy cake with dates, then smother the top in chocolate.

LOL, thought "lucky woman!" till I saw it was "food" Grin

ProudNeathGirl · 07/10/2012 18:25

Date and walnut loaf is nice.

Cockroach crunch?! Who called it that? Must be a Halloween thing.

I am going to go with the virtuous flapjacks so DCs have healthy lunchbox fillers and I've made something with the dates. Two birds Smile

Thanks a lot.

Laughed about 'date' misunderstanding. Read it to dh who looked at me blankly. We have been together too long a looooong time

I see you're going with flapjacks, but for next time.. try date slice. DIVINE.

You can stuff them with marzipan and dip them in chocolate, and keep them for Christmas.

Just be yourself and stock up on breath mints and condoms.

Oh wait, you mean...
