Can I halve Delia's Christmas Cake Recipe?

The only person in the house who likes it is my husband and I'd rather he didn't eat a whole one himself.

So do you think I can halve the recipe?

Also...how long before Chistmas do you make one? I made one right before last year because I won the Cake in a Box here on MN!

I'd try posting on the baking board, there are some real experts over there.

I considered doing this myself but I was concerned about the timings.

Thanks, I'll ask HQ to move this rather than start again!

You could make up the whole mixture and split it betwen two smaller tins?

If it's Delia's rich fruit cake from the complete cookery course, she gives quantities for different sizes from 6" round upwards.

But then I'd have two cakes and still the same problem!

I was looking at Delia's recipe online but I think I do have her book so I'll look at that!

If its a 20cm tin then halving it would be a 15cm tin. 10cm would mean 1/4 ingredients.

I plan to make mine over the next couple of weeks luckily have most ingredients here. Bought my XP sherry so ready to go!

Thanks Bacon. I'm actually not sure I have a smaller tin.

Oh no! Shopping!! For cooking things!! Grin
