can i freeze in fresh mushrooms?

I've just bought a huge box of them and realised I don't need them until thursday!

I don't know but I doubt it. Wouldn't they go rubbery or something equally unappetising. Could you pre-cook them?

Yep, slice them and blanche them.

Yes, they will go rubbery, my mum does it all the time and i used to live with her so i know! I guess it's better than wasting the mushroom, but a week isn't that long in the lfe of a mushroom, just don't leave them in a pastic bag or they will go manky. I think dm used to blanche them before freezing them, in case you're tempted.

They'll be ok for a week if you keep them in a paper bag rather than plastic. They might start to dry out a little bit, but they'll still be nicer than frozen and absolutely fine if you're using them for cooking.
