Cuisinart or Gaggia ice-cream machine

My lovely Mum has always wanted an ice-cream machine - one where the bowl doesn't have to be pre-frozen. It's her 60th soon so I want to get her one. But, I desperately need advice. The Cuisinart one is reduced on Amazon at the moment so hoping to order soon.
Thanks!

Our new one is Gaggia it's brilliant but you need quite a bit of space for it and it can't be moved about once it's in place (well you can but it needs to be left a while before you can use it).

Not a personal recco, as I only have a bowl-freezy one, but I covet a Cuisinart.
Mainly as my ice cream guru, David Leibovitz has one (see here

NB I can recommend his website, and also his book Perfect Scoop, which I find covers the science bit, plus basic and more luxurious recipes, as well as a few that are more 'out there'.

I am not affiliated with him in any way, btw. But I would like to go round his gaff in Paris for a cake and a gossip.

Hello! did you get a gaggia or a cuisinart in the end? I typed this exact same question into google and trusty MN came up as the first result with a link to this thread Smile
