DISASTER! Help - suggestions please

I'm supposed to be cooking mother's day lunch for eight on sunday and the sodding oven's conked out. There is no chance of the landlord fixing/replacing it by sunday, so obviously a roast is out of the question.
I'm feeling completely uninspired - can anyone suggest anything reasonably simple yet exciting enough for guests, using only four gas rings and a small microwave? Please?

or curry

agree with starlover re pasta, a lovely spaghetti bolognaise with some chunky fresh bread? Mmmmmmmmmmm

How about a nice big pan of paella (easy version) ie...leave out the difficult bits....squid, mussells...

Coq au vin can be done on the hob. Could do it with boiled potatoes or rice.

Thanks for those, all good. There is also the annoying issue that it has to be something my children will actually eat (ie sadly not paella and probably not coq au vin, dammit).

Can you do a casserole on the hob?

Casseroles can be done on the hob, although some hobs can be a bit fierce for the long, slow cooking needed for a really good beef casserole.
