Beef in Bitter!?!

I have made "beef in beer" in the slow cooker. However, didnt have any brown ale so instead of using pale ale, I bought a bottle of Bishop's Finger (strong bitter). Consequently it tastes very bitter. It's a thick sauce so could I put some sugar water in it (made with brown sugar) or would you just leave it? I will eat with DS at 5pm but DH may not eat til after 8pm....

Don't know about adding sugar, but beef is better cooked in a sweet beer. Theakstons Old Peculier is ideal, as you get a lovely rich, sweet, dark sauce. Drink a sharp IPA with it to cut through the sweetness of the sauce. Thornbridge's Jaipur IPA or Brewdog Punk are ideal. Actually, the Jaipur would be better, Punk is a touch flowery, but satisfyingly bitter.
