Blender/food processor question.

Excuse my ignorance but what IS the difference between a blender and a food processor, I've never been quite sure?

I think it's a processor I need, can anyone recommend a decent ( not too expensive one) please?

Personally, I would recommend a Kenwood. Here is an example, although you may find on even cheaper than this if you don't fancy the brand:

Blender spins fast and will turn things to liquid consistency, good for smoothies, soups etc, but you can use smaller ones for spices etc. Food processor chops (at the bare minimum) but normally has various attachments, so good for all sorts - I use mine for mixing cake batter, bread dough, pastry, shredding veg, grating veg, making mayo, whisking egg whites etc. Some have interchangeable parts so you can have a blender and food processor in one. I have an older version of this, and really like it:

A blender is a goblet with a tiny blade at the bottom, liquidises things and needs plenty of liquid to be present in order to do the job.. A food processor has a bigger bowl and a much bigger blade so it can chop/mince/process dry stuff.
