Nigella's Christmas Cake and fruit soaking

Massive durrrrr points to me.

I was planning on baking this christmas cake today, got all my stuff ready then read step 1 on the recipe; "soak dried fruits in whiskey overnight"

They've been soaking since 8am. Tis not enough, is it? I was really in a baking mood today and now I have to wait until tomorrow. Or do you think it might be OK to start today?

Gah.

Bake some bread!

If you put them in a pan, warm them through for 10 mins or so it intensifies the absorption of the liquor as though soaked overnight (according to all the cheffy types I watch/read)

Don't tell me to bake bread ffs Shirl I will eat it all.

I am going to do the cake after dinner. It will ahve had the same amount of time as if soaked over night then Grin
