And have a chicken to roast. Can I just put it in the oven anyway?

Do you have any baking paper? You could use that too. Just cover it loosely.

I've roasted a chicken without foil before (forgot) and it was fine. Might need to baste more often.

Of course! I very rarely use foil on mine. It will just go a bit more brown.

OR, cover it in streaky bacon and take it off 20 mins before the end. Then eat all the bacon. Mmmmmm...

ShatnersBassoon · 25/09/2012 12:50

You don't need foil, just baste it more than you would usually.

Haha iheartkingthistle, alas I have no bacon.

Thank you both, will stick it in now then. Would go to the shop but it is persisting down and we are on flood watch, no unnecessary driving.

get some out of the bin??

I did that to cover the salmon I was cooking yesterday Blush - it came off the kids lunchbox sarnies. Thankfully the bin only has fairlycleanish stuf in as we have to put our food waste in another bin.

I did wash it first - honest!!

Nope, none in the bin Grin

You cover your chicken with foil when you roast it? Why? Mine just gets bunged in the oven au naturel. could explain why my oven smokes like buggery when I turn it on however

5inthebed · 25/09/2012 17:46

O idea why, think my mam does it like that.

It was lovely, shall never use foil again!

I don't put my chicken in foil, it comes out beautiful and the skin is always lovely and crispy.
Aslong as you baste it well every 30 mins it will come out delishSmile
