I am so angry this morrning, I cooked a beautiful shoulder of lamb last night that came out of the oven at 8pm, was planning on using it to batch freeze meals like shepards pies for my little boy and after the pregnancy. I was shattered (pregnant) and asked husband to put it in the fridge to cool after an hour so I could make the meals to go in the freezer today.

I come down this morning and its been left out all night, I put it in the fridge at 7am.

Can we eat this now? Can I use it for my freezer meals...

My husband things I am being ridiculous saying that there is a potential now that it could be unsafe and all bugs are dead in it, I think slowly cooling like that and staying at room temperature is very bad.

Anyway, am I being precious?

Calm down, it's not ideal but it'll be fine.

I am ALWAYS forgetting to fridge stuff left out to cool. I portion it up and get on, no one has died!

It.Will.Be.Fine.

Now go back to bed it's sunday morning!

If you were gonna eat it on its own I'd say no but as you are planning to batch cook eith it I would say that any bugs will be killed off in the next cooking process just make sure that when you defrost the dish that again u Make sure it's piping hot when u reheat

Lol, thats a good first response, just posted in AIBU - think it may be the pregnancy hormones getting the better of me!

Mmm I wouldn't personally, if it was just for adults I'd take the chance.

I saw! really save your anger for when you need it! :o)

I usually leave things in the slow cooker to cool until next morning. All still alive and well.

DowagersHump · 16/09/2012 08:45

It will be fine. :)

My husband does this all the time, but lies and tells me he did it the night before.

  1. Your husband should learn when it is appropriate to lie Grin
  2. We're not dead so I'm past caring Smile
