Recipe for Cosmopolitan Cocktail with No Very Expensive Ingredients, Please!

Having a girly get together and would like to make said bevvy, but I'm sure that original recipe contains vodka, cranberry juice and.....something else I can't remember the name of but don't really want to buy. So, am looking for a recipe without this ingredient.

Think its a liqueur??

When I was in New York (oo la la! Pre-DCs obviously) I had a passion fruit Cosmopolitan which was very very lushalicious. If anyone knows the recipe for that one I will be most satisfied

So how do I go about making a Cosmopolitan without Triple Sec??!!

Triple sec is orange isn't it? Maybe you could make your own orange liqueur in advance? Easier than you might think, peel an orange with a potato peeler, add loads of sugar and cheap vodka. Let it steep for as long as you can.

Or make an orange syrup and then double the vodka measure per glass/pitcher?
