Feeding a sick baby

Hi, I'm a first time mum and my six and a half month old was weaned onto bottles nearly a month ago. Things started out well but he has had a cold this week and now things are getting progressively worse as he is refusing to take more than two or three ounces of milk at a time. He is totally refusing solids and has never shown much interest in water or juices. Can anyone offer any advice?

As long as he's got wet nappies you don't need to worry too much. Don't worry about the solids but keep offering milk and water. My 6 month old was ill recently and like yours wouldn't touch his food or liquids. Dr said as long as wet nappies not to worry but keep offering. You can get rehydration powder (can't remember what its called) but if babys nt taking milk or water not much chance of him taking them. Have you tried syringing fluids into his mouth? If really worried or have got dry nappies take him to dr.

Are you unblocking his nose before each feed - saline nasal drops and an aspitaor may make him mroe comfortable. Otherwise try to feed him less but more often. Persist with milk unless he is sick and perhaps try some plainish solids with milk added like porridge or very wet puree.

Thanks for responding. He does have wet nappies so I guess I'll just have to ride this one out a little longer. Thanks again.
