Just got chicken fillets out the fridge for tea. Their best before date is weds. But they are just a little bit smelly. Haven't noticed this with chicken before. Would you still feed them to your family or bin them?

I'd bin I'm afraid. Unless they've stopped smelling since you opened them (sometimes there's a bit of blood that needs to oxidise).

You'll always get a bit of a funny smell when you fist open chicken, it's usually just from the packet. Smell again after a minute or so and if they dont smell they will be fine. If the chicken is still pongy then i'd discard them

Is it just a whiff or a knock you backwards smell? Baking is right that you always get a funny whiff, just give them a minute to air. If its really stinky, just throw it

Tis binned. The smell stayed and made me feel a bit sick. Not worth risk as stressy week as it is. Frozen quorn lumps to the rescue. Thanks for replies Smile
