Instant lighting charcoal for bbq

Is it me or is it a total waste of time? Had a BBQ this afternoon on my teeny portable, the fire kept going out, hardly any of the coal lit and it was cold even after 15 mins. I then looked online and added newspaper and it eventually got going. Is it the brand? It called fuel express instant charcoal from
tesco.

Never used this before, but from information I have gather over the years those types of charcol aren't very nice to use. If you can find natural charcoal, which is made from wood, you will not only have better flavor, but a slower more even burn and less ashes.

We use that with no problems at all - complete;y failsafe ime. Sounds like you got a dodgy one.

ok thanks, we've tried twice and first time was a total failure, we ended up grilling everything instead!
