DS1 would like to have some cash to buy sausage rolls etc, but that's not going to happen mostly because of the amount of actual cash required.

I primary school I made him lovely packed lunches full of fresh fruit and veg and homemade cake, but that's not going to be OK now....is it?

A ham/chicken/turkey/cheese roll, tub of grapes, apple, small choc bar and a carton of apple juice. I bung some crisps in but he usually eats them of the way home. I often put in a home made muffin if I have made any. Sometimes he takes a wrap instead of a roll.

My 14yr old takes soup with him every single sodding day :( I batch cook about four or five pots every four weeks, different sorts, normal veg soup, Thia noodle, Cuban black bean, African sweet potato & peanut, minestrone were the last lot. He doesn't take bread with it just the soup and uses a thermas to keep it hot. I think it's laziness as its just the right temperature to gulp it down at lunchtime leaving lots of time for sitting in the computer suite!

When DS started secondary I provided him with the same kind of lovely lunch that would be approved by his primary school lunch box police.

Very quickly it became apparent that secondary school lunches were the complete opposite of primary lunches and that most of them head to the local shop with their lunch money and buy pasties and coke and fags

We compromised on pasta salads and I went back to the toddler refusing veg days and blend in lots of veg to the tomato sauce so it doesn't look too healthy.

My 15 yr old DS has taken 2 cheese & salami wholemeal rolls, apple, banana, small kitkat and water today, on PE kit days and fridays he takes money and has chips etc with his mates.
