DH and I are going to try and embrace the 5:2 fasting days and aim for 500 calories a day. Can anyone tell me how they use their 500 calories?

A big mac has 495 calories :o

Probably. I'd just avoid crap; fried food, take away, pasta, chocolate, alcohol. Steamed fish and veg is good though. 500 calories a day is nothing, are you sure it's a good idea?? Wine

A friend is doing this, he is a bit of a frozen or fast food person so has pre made frozen, he is doing 600 calories on the fast day, and after two weeks has lost weight.

roast potato
2 sausages
mashed carrot ans swede
gravy

While you get used to it have a look at some of the complete meals you can find in the freezer, birds eye do a roast dinner that is about 400 calories, which leaves some for snacks.

If yo make a chilli with quorn instead of mince it is increddibly low calories, when I was dieting I made a huge pot and a big bowl was only something like 200 calories.

Salad - you can practically have as much as you want. Fruit has more sugar but can be added. I recently discovered you can throw a banana in the oven for 10 mins and you get a banana witha soft sweet filling.

The bbc has 200-400 calorie meals

I had my first fast day yesterday, DH was supposed to have his but he forgot at work and ate a Wispa Gold!

I did go over a bit because I messed up with my Oat so simple and didn't count the milk calories.
I had the sweet cinnamon Oat so simple at about 11.30 (207 calories with semi skimmed milk) and then at 6.30 an M&S Fuller for longer ready meal (Ham hock with mustard sauce, mash, carrots and runner beans) that was 320 calories.
I didn't feel too hungry, I did have a couple of craving for something sweet but sniffing vanilla essence really helped that.
Next fast is Thursday so marking my place for ideas.

Pile of runner beans and poached egg on top. Butter optional. That would do for one meal.

I do SW the rest of the time, so on my fasting days I have a glorious sandwich, with butter and cheese and salad (don't bother on sw, too many syns).

Are you all doing the one meal option?
