didn't read instructions and didn't soak the 'soup mix'

In top tips of money saving frugality I dutifully (in a mad rush) poured in half a packet to my stew... it was Waitrose 'soup mix' containing, split peas, lentils and rice. Am now fuming my whole pot of loving chopped veg will end up with hard peas/lentils floating round in it, is there any think I can do ?

Boil up for 10 minutes then turn off the heat and allow it all to sit and soak for an hour before you carry on cooking. You may yet save it.

just make sure the cook for long enough, and there is enough liquid for them to absorb, and it should be fine.
