Please help - toad in the hole!!

DP loves this but everytime I make it my pudding never rises.

I know this is a simple thing to cook but can anyone give me some tips?

put the tin in the oven first and get the oil/fat very very hot. Until it starts to smoke in fact!

make sure your oven is really well preheated
make sure the fat is VERY, VERY hot

We have toads in cheesy holes! Add grated cheese to the batter mix before put it on the sausages.Its really yummy!!

I started a thread on this a while ago - I seem to remember Jackstini's recipie is brilliant and always works, I cook double her quantities, for 10 people and it works!
