Very large courgette...

any ideas please? Just been given to me by neighbour (along with appropriate cheeky comment!). So, can I make soup? DH and DSs dont like it but DM does and so I could make something for us to share. Tesco delivery tomorrow so still a few hours left to add anything I might need to deal with this large specimen (30cm+ long and 10cm diameter). Thanks!

We used to use our courgette glut up on courgette carbonara - think it was a Jamie Oliver recipe

I am not the biggest fan of courgette, but that's a nice recipe

Yes you can make soup. I find a couple of triangles of dairylea improve courgette soup immeasurably.

Ratatouille?

Cut into batons and then dip in milk and then in seasoned flour. Deep fry for a minute or two and serve!

Sounds more like a marrow if it's grown that big? Leek and marrow cheesy gratin is nice and easy and freezes well.

Go for a sweet recipe. Rachel Allens zucchini and walnut loaf is to die for (and lasts for 10 days!!!)

Ideas. I love courgette.

This is really tasty, I don't bother with the basil though.

Thanks, my mouth is watering at the thought....of all of them!

I've been working my way through a vat of ratatouille as the DCs won't touch it! I also like to make courgette fritters (grate it, stir in an egg - or two - and a couple of spoonfuls of SR flour, season well - I add chopped mint if I have it - then fry little dollops in a drizzle of oil. Also good with sweetcorn.)

Good ideas here - I went off on holiday and returned to find several huge monsters in my courgette patch. Tried hollowing one out and stuffing it with greek-ish mince and rice, and it was pretty blah - marrow wasn't cooked, even though I'd soused it in olive oil and pre-baked it.

Will try chips and maybe a courgette cake with the smaller, more tender ends of the beasts.

Look up recipes for marrow, that's what a marrow is, a giant courgette.
