ice-cream bombes - any ideas appreciated!

I want to make some individual ice-cream bombes for christmas dinner (for ds and others who HATE christmas pudding). I thought I would make the top layer of chocolate chip ice cream (or white icecream for a snow effect) but I'm a bit stuck as to what to put inside. All the recipes I've found use loads of alcohol and I'm after something child friendly. What sort of filling layers could I use? Any ideas REALLY appreciated !

If you're anywhere near a Waitrose their free recipe cards feature an ice cream bombe made with mascarpone and candied peel atm. Or maybe it would be easier to fill it with an ice cream flavour like chocolate orange. Great idea for those who don't like xmas pudding

Oooh - thanks Betty - I love the chocolate orange idea. Maybe I should just do loads of layers of different icecreams - would that be really sickly? Maybe I could mix some fruit into one of the layers (strawberries?).

I love oranges which have had the middles scooped out and then filled with sorbet.

How about peppermint? My kids love peppermint ice cream with chocolate chips. You could crush cadburys mint crunch bar and mix it with choc or vanilla ice cream maybe?
