Slow Cooker Spaghetti Bolognese

Having searched through the archives i decided to give this a go in preparation for returning to work after maternity leave. I have 9 hours until i want to eat it so it is on low but there are no bubbles and the lid isn't steamed up like it would be on high.

Thinking of turning it up. Should i sit on my hands?

I thought you put a slow cooker on "hot" until it warmed up and then turned it down.

That makes sense soup. TBH I think it will be a bit horrid anyway but was determined to try it out.

I Normally put mine on the auto function and I am normally out of the house wen my slow cooker is in action.....so i only ever see the end product and so far.....they've all been a success!! :)

Why do you think it will be horrid?

Pastabee · 28/08/2012 11:47

lovemy3kids I now have slow cooker envy! I just have low or high!

soup I've only ever made casseroles in it so just a bit doubtful.

Sit on your hands, leave it , don't even look at it. It'll work it's magic ,

I made bolognaise in my slow cooker last week. It turned out lovely. I put it on high for a short while and then put it on low to finish.

If your leaving it for 9 hours I would be inclined to leave it on the low setting.

TheCunningStunt · 28/08/2012 11:55

I'd leave it on low to. I generally cook all things on low for 8 hours.

Pastabee · 28/08/2012 12:23

I've left it and something is happening now as the lid is steaming up.

Patience is ALWAYS rewarded isn't it?

Sorry to hijack but Is 11 hours too long on slow?

Pastabee · 01/09/2012 22:15

Well clearly I'm no expert as it was the first time I had done it but I would have thought 11 hours would be fine.

I'm on mat leave at the mo hence the luxury of 9 hours but when I go back to work I'll be putting this on at 7am and eating it at 7pm.

It turned out really well btw.
