Do breadmakers make a good, soft sandwich loaf?

I really enjoy making my own bread and it's bloody expensive to buy bread over here anyway. However, I've never made a loaf that is soft enough to be used as a sandwich loaf.

Are breadmakers any good at making a good soft sandwich loaf or does anyone have a good recipe for a hand made sandwich loaf?

I think they do and I think there is a sandwich recipe. Part of it is I find using olive oil (not butter) makes for softer crust and bread.

Tbh the bread maker has been one of our better buys as doesn't cost much to buy ingredients and you can have nice bread on tap.

I've found that bread can be a little tricky to cut thin at first because it is so soft but it tastes so much nicer than shop bread. You can also make rolls in some I believe which might be good for lunches etc

I tried the soft loaf function once and it didnt turn out right at all.

The rapid function on our Panasonic makes a white loaf in about 1hr 55m thats slightly smaller than the standard 4hr one and has a softer crust.

I think it also has a sandwich loaf setting but I've not used that yet.

Not sure what a sandwich loaf is but this makes a lovely soft white loaf. I also make soft white baps quite often, and I'm sure you get a loaf if you bake it in a loaf tin ...
