Victoria Sponge and leaving out in the open

how long can I leave a victoria sponge out in the open (in a house rather than outside) for without it turning stale?

thinking of having victoria sponge for my wedding cake (at home wedding) and it would probably arrive (ready made from baker and boxed) to us in the morning with us "putting it out" on a cake stand at 1pm whilst we go off to the ceremony and then eaten at about 4pm. Will it be ok and if not what else can I do? won't be any room in the fridge.

It will be fine for one day.

Are you using fresh cream? I'd be more worried about that.

Depending on decorations....you could cover it with a very slightly damp, not touching, cloth to keep it ultra fresh.

butter cream not fresh cream - I think they'll just be dusted with icing sugar
