Ideas for a posh picnic breakfast

In a couple of weeks I am going for a day out with some friends and we planned to have a picnic breakfast when we got there.

As it is also my birthday I want to do something a bit special. I was thinking bucks fizz, croissants with smoked salmon/cheese and ham/something veggie, strawberries, pastries of some kind.

What else could I take?

Thanks for any ideas :)

Bagels and lox

Pain au chocolate/Danish selection/croissants

Butterzopf and selection of mini jam pots

Cold meats/cheeses

Bircher muesli made with fresh berries

Mimosas or Bellinis

Coffee

sound fabulous as it is, i was about to post everything you had there, perhaps not the ham/veggie, but everything else and nothing more!

PavlovtheCat · 20/08/2012 21:34

oh yes, coffee! fresh coffee in a thermos.

Thanks for replies.

It is a day out at an event, so figured get there early, have breakfast, then everyone is free to do their own thing if they wish.

Not sure about coffee, as I know at least 3 out of the 7 that can't stand it. Perhaps hot chocolate?

I have a recipe for corn and bacon bread, and was thinking maybe some brioche buns or muffins?

Love the fruit salad idea.

Oh, and how about churros to go with the chocolate?

Flasks full of hot water plus posh teabags, hot choc sachets, and those cup sized coffee filter things. Choice of milk or lemon for posh tea Wink

Good idea!

Is a flask of tea not posh!! Grin

Also some fresh juices (freshly squeezed orange and pressed apple) for those not fancying champagne first thing

not sure if it is posh, but could be fun. take a disposable bbq and cook some bacon so everyone can make bacon sarnies!

also some birthday cake!

MrsNouveauRichards · 21/08/2012 07:32

BBQ not allowed sadly, but birthday cake is obviously a must!
