You used to be able to get marshmallows that did not contain geletein but now they all seem to have it does anyone know where you can get vegetarian ones?

Hello Susie - You can buy them online here they do a lot of different flavours! The ones I have sampled are delicious. I usually buy a whole batch at Yule and divvy them up between me and other veggie/vegan friends. :)

Thanks for that. Just wish they would not put geletine in everything!

I know, it's infuriating! If you like naughty sweets then check out Goody Good stuff - you can get them in Holland and Barrett. They do cola bottles!

Oh, and Haribo also do a halal-approved mix which is gelatine free.

Second the Sweet Vegan ones - yummy! It is annoying that you can't just go to the local shops and pick them up though. But I guess it saves pounds in both senses of the word.

NotGeoffVader - I thought they were Halal approved as they contained fish gelatine instead of beef

Are Haribo products HALAL?
ONLY Haribo products that are manufactured in our factory in Turkey are halal. All Haribo Gold-Bears and Haribo Raspberries sold in the US are made in our factory in Turkey and are Halal. You can find the country of origin on the back of all our packages. Haribo products produced in Haribo's factory in Turkey are made with beef gelatin and are certified HALAL. All other items are made with pork gelatin.

They are not vegetarian!!!

Oh, it is Kosher haribo that is made from fish gelatine :)

Last time I fancied chewy sweet things (Haribo) I checked the packet. The 'halal' ones I got didn't have any gelatine in, I promise :)

But get hold of goody good stuff, the name really does say it all!

OP, would you be prepared to make them yourself ? If so I can give you a recipe using agar agar but you would need to have a hand held whisk or freestanding mixer and have access to a sugar thermometer
