They are a bit like a soft bread made with potato as well as flour. I really love them, but they do have to be served warm or hot (the toaster will do).

I buy them - lovely toasted in the toaster (put them on quite a high setting so they are really crispy) and eaten with cheese.

Rankin himself is N.Irish and farls are quite a traditional Irish dish (almost anything with potato as a major ingredient is traditional Irish Wink).

actually thought it said potato farts which is what caught my eye!

now I just need a tesco code which seem thin on the ground these days

That's the man. (And, given the amount of potato in the Irish diet, I think that potato farts may be traditional there too.) Grin

My favourite way to eat them (farls not farts) is just hot with butter. You have to hold them very level so that the butter doesn't drip down your front.

they are reduced in tesco from 98p to 78p

whooppee!

thanks for the reminder I had forgotten eggs and the last couple of weeks have reintroduced bacon because of the two for one on finest
