Defrosting meat quickly without microwave

I really want to defrost some beef chunks to put in the slow cooker before we go out (unseasonal I know!). Don't have a microwave. What can I do?

I would just chuck them in frozen personally, otherwise, put them in a freezer bag and sit them in a bowl of cold water.

i would make sure all the pieces are seperated before putting them in though, put the meat under cold running water to do this

Cold water should do it

Running water > standing water > microwave.
