Maybe a silly question but this is my first attempt!

Before putting the base in the pie dish do you grease the bottom or is the butter from the pastry enough to stop sticking?

I always grease the bottom, don't know if you have to.

foxinsocks · 12/08/2012 17:34

I have given up and only do a lid

foxinsocks · 12/08/2012 17:34

But yes I would grease as it can be sticky

Don't do bottom, just top. Made a great steak and onion pie this way yesterday ( have leftovers to tonight)

Ooh bugger it, I just asked for help, got it, and then forgot when it came to compiling the blinking thing....I'll blame baby brain!

It's in the oven now, fingers crossed I don't get a sticky, soggy bottom. It's a Paul Hollywood pastry recipe....I always imagine he's going to judge me on the outcome. Can't wait for British bake off starting.
