Edible dinosaur cake decorations - where?

Does anyone know where I could get hold on some chocolate/fondant/marzipan dinosaurs to go on a birthday cake? 3D standing up ones, not flat 2D lying down ones.

I am going to bake a "4" shaped cake and want dinos marching across the top.

I'm thinking like the posh marzipan/choc fruits/sea shells etc that you can get in smart chocolateries/pattiseries in France.

I am between Leeds and Sheffield, but I am anticipating that I'll need mail order.

Do you have a local sugarcraft shop? The often have someone who will make them to order, if not....... Would you be tempted to make some yourself? Very simple, you can buy coloured sugar paste, some cmc and find a pic of ones you like. It's just like playdough. <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=ny-image0.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.211183436.jpg&imgrefurl=yourblissfulday.blogspot.com/2011/02/foodie-friday-dinosaur-party.html&h=410&w=640&sz=39&tbnid=PmaKbwBHjM05gM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=140&prev=/search%3Fq%3D3d%2Bedible%2Bdinosaur%2Bcake%2Bdecorations%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=3d+edible+dinosaur+cake+decorations&usg=__Ni4Rrch0G_aA5ErINEMIX3dtY-A=&docid=W8iUqqh-JHVCaM&sa=X&ei=NMsiUNXPO6Gb0QWvuIHoCw&ved=0CGUQ9QEwBQ&dur=557" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">like these

I'd seen those IzziesMummy it may be them, but I might try and make some from sugar paste - will practise with Playdo - we have plenty of that.

Ebay is worth a go, I've bought cake decorations from there before and they've been fine.

Could you not just use plastic toy dinosaurs and then take them off when it's time to cut the cake?

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 08/08/2012 22:02

when do you need them for?

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 08/08/2012 22:06

would be more than happy to make some of these for you

I made a dinosaur cake last year that went down a storm....was a volcano then I just stuck small plastic dinos on it, some were being killed by the lava even (orange icing running down sides).

Actually Blueberry, I reckon I could make something like in that pic quite easily. My audience is 4! They don't have to be works of art.
