Just wanted to ask for your best traditional English/comfort food style pudding recipes. Think jam roly poly, bread and butter pud, treacle sponge, frangipan etc cheap and tasty :) TIA

Eve's pudding:

1 large cooking apple
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp water
10g butter
1 tbsp caster sugar

Core and slice apple, add rest of ingredients and cook in pan for 5 mins. Optional to add currants and cinnamon.

For sponge:

37.5g butter
50g caster sugar
50g self raising flour
1 egg (whisked)
1/2 tbsp boiling water

Cream butter and sugar. Then add flour and egg in alternate spoonfuls and FOLD until mixed.

Put apple mix in bottom of a loaf tin or oven proof dish, spread over sponge mix and cook for 30-35 mins at 180 degrees.

Lovely!

You can do a lot worse than jam tarts, do they count? I always forget how gooooood they are until we have them, largely because they taste like cardboard when boughten from the Shop.
