lunch for four 1 year olds

I've invited 3 other mums and there girls to come here for lucnh tomorrow after mother and toddler group as it's DD's birthday the next day.

Lunch for us mums is sorted but any suggestions whta I might do for the girls, other than the normal marmite sandwiches etc

Well for dd's Party i did,
egg and tomato sandwiches (hard boiled eggs but the tomato softens them) and ham and cheese sandwiches,

You could do lots of finger food options, such as sticks of cucumber, peppers, cherry tomatoes, fingers of buttered bread or pitta, cheese, cooked meat, fruit, etc.

Or soft pasta with olive oil and grated cheese.

I always do cottage pie for visiting kids. Haven't yet found a child who won't eat it. I borrow Nigellas secret of adding a splash of apple juice to the meat/carrot base, and usually put either mashed swede or parsnip with the spuds on top.

As it's a special party tea, pinwheel sandwiches are very pretty. If you haven't made them before, you just cut the crusts off the bread and roll it out very flat with a rolling pin, put filling on, roll up tightly like a swiss roll. Wrap in clingfilm, chill for 30 mins, then cut in tiny little slices. So sweet :)

I do like the idea of the pinwheel sandwiches. I've just found some pretty pink paper plates in my 'party drawer' to put them on. Goodness knows where they came from as DS I'm sure has always had Thomas the Tank!
Any fillings that work particularly well?

I was going to do tomatoes, cucumber and carrot sticks as well Kama, and celery as DD loves it.

Philadelphia works very well, or mashed avocado if you are going to serve them straight away. Don't try anything lumpy or thick as it won't stay rolled up.
